Founded in 2013, Kono Authentic began with a passion for leather crafting and a deep respect for the beauty of traditional techniques.
Our name, “Kono,” is derived from the Setswana word konokono, meaning “the top dog” or “expert in their own respect”—a fitting tribute to our commitment to creating the best of the best.
After completing a leather craft course in Cape Town, we set out on a mission to create high-quality leather bags and accessories that celebrate timeless craftsmanship and modern design.
Each Kono piece is thoughtfully handcrafted in Johannesburg, South Africa, using the finest locally sourced leather and materials.
